About choir
Vocal ensemble created in 2009. Festino united young musicians, students and graduates of Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory. The main repertoire of the choir is XX-XXI century music, baroque and renaissance music. Festino Chamber choir is a laureate of prestigious international competitions: Chamber choir competition Miltenberg, IKV Flanders Maasmechelen, Florilege Vocal de Tours, Il Polifonico Arezzo. Among others choir received numerous awards for the best performances of renaissance and baroque music. The collective performs on best concert stages of Saint-Petersburg, including the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, Saint-Petersburg State Philharmonia, State Capella Hall and others. It cooperates with famous Russian and European musicians, such as Georg Grün and the soloists of Saarbrücken chamber choir, Peter Phillips (The Tallis Scholars), Fedor Lednev, The Divertissement Chamber Orchestra, Russian Horn Orchestra.
Festino Chamber choir actively participates in theatre perfomances and perfomative acts, managed by such directors as Andrey Moguchy (Bolshoi Drama theatre), Alexander Artemov (TRUE -theatre), Semen Aleksandrovsky (Pop-up theatre) Perfoming of XX-XXI century music is one of the choir`s priorities. The collective actively works with the Molot group and Molot — ensemble. Festino worked together in joint projects at premieres with Russian and foreign composers, such as Nastasia Khrustchiova, Artur Zobnin, Ilya Demutsky, Helena Tulve, Darius Przybylski. Patrick Friel. In 2016 Festino recorded a choir CD "Music Anthology of young Russian composers". Among the collective`s recordings there are also such pieces as 25-year Symphony of Alexander Manotskov (2015, Fancy music) и Requiem by American composer Grant Stewart (2018).
Another important field in choir`s repertoire is Medieval Russian chant and Russian early partes concerts. In 2019 choir took part in Saint-Petersburg International Cultural Forum with the program of old Russian music performed during the conference in Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory. Festino chamber choir also takes part in several annual educational projects; International choir conducting masterclass under leadership of professor Boris Abalyan and international young composers seminar — the joint project of the Festino choir and MolOt-ensemble.
